In the current Coronavirus emergency, the measures which have been introduced significantly reduce social interaction within the dale.  This will particularly affect those who have been asked to self isolate.  As a community we want to help each other as much as possible.  Much of this will happen informally between neighbours or within families.  However we thought it would be helpful to provide a focal point where people can offer help to the community or request help from the community.

Below is a list of offers of help and volunteers, contact numbers are provided and if you need help then please ring anyone on the list.  In addition we are also publishing information from various services as they start to re-open following the relaxation in lock-down measures.  North Yorkshire County Council, North York Moors National Park Authority and others are also providing regular updates and information about this epidemic, please click on the section in blue to find out more.

Many Thanks

Bilsdale Midcable Parish Council

The Buck Inn

The Buck Inn have kindly volunteered their service to consolidate orders and place them with their food wholesaler (Brakes).  Brakes have a minimum order quantity of £100 and as long as the combined orders meet this threshold they will deliver to the pub and then individuals can collect their food from the pub.

In order to use this service please go to the Brakes website  to browse their food and household offer (this is called catering supplies on their website).  Select the products you want and record the product name and product code and then email your order to the Buck Inn  The product code is particularly important as this is how the orders are placed with Brakes.

Brakes deliver on a Tuesday and Thursday to The Buck Inn so orders need to be with Helen & Wolfgang by 13.00hrs on Sunday and Tuesday respectively.  Helen & Wolfgang will call or email to arrange a time for collection from the pub and payment is made over the phone to The Buck Inn by card (01642 778334).

Please remember that Brakes is a foodservice wholesaler and as such pack sizes are larger than you would normally get in a supermarket.  You must, therefore, be able to store, freeze or share what you get as the pub is unable to split up packs to make the pack size smaller.

In addition, the pub's fresh fruit and vegetable supplier, QFS, is now offering home delivery from Monday to Friday for the elderly and those at high risk from Coronavirus.  Contact them on 01642 249994 and to view their range please go to If you have any problems please contact the Buck Inn as they are also continuing to receive deliveries from QFS.
